Key Indicators of Facebook Phishing Scams
As highlighted in a recent Malwarebytes article, there are several tell-tale signs of phishing scams:
- High-Pressure Tactics: Scammers often claim your account has been disabled and urge immediate action. Some even state that action is needed within 24 hours, or the account will be deleted permanently.
- Fake Links: The messages redirect users to fake Facebook pages designed to steal personal information such as login email, name, and phone number.
- Misspellings and Odd Phrasings: Be cautious of messages with grammatical errors or awkward language.
- Unrecognized Senders: Scam messages might have senders who aren’t using a Facebook address and links to sites that aren’t Facebook.
Protecting Your Business Page
- Review Your Page’s Health: First and foremost, Meta/Facebook does not send messages via Messenger. If Facebook has an issue with your page, it will be noted in the Page Quality section. To access this:
